ESL Junior Classes
Santa Monica Language Academy is now offering ESL classes for tweens in person at our Pasadena location!
Our ESL (English as a Second Language) Junior classes are designed for tweens who are looking to start learning English or to improve their English language skills. The curriculum is adapted to their age level and it develops speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in engaging contexts. Available for teens aged 11 to 15 years old, the ESL Junior program is divided into 4 levels: Level 1 (low beginning), Level 2 (high beginning), Level 3 (low intermediate), and Level 4 (intermediate). PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
PROGRAM STRUCTURE GRAMMAR CLASS Each level introduces grammatical structures in a progressive way. The students will then practice it through different exercises, in writing, reading, and speaking. The focus of the class is on acquring speaking fluency using correct grammar. VOCABULARY & CONVERSATION CLASS Students will be learning vocabulary on topics related to their every day activities at school and at home, as well as their social life. This class is aiming at developing student's English vocabulary and pronunciation through written and listening exercises, and different group activities: role play, theme projects, topic discussions. CURRICULUM AND STRUCTURE The ESL Junior Summer classes are structured into 4 levels: Level 1 (low beginner), Level 2 (high beginner), Level 3 (low intermediate), Level 4 (intermediate). Click on the name of the textbook to see a description of what is covered in each level. For Level 1 we are using the Connect 1 textbook (2nd edition) by Cambridge University Press. For Level 2 we are using the Connect 2 textbook (2nd edition) by Cambridge University Press. For Level 3 we are using the Connect 3 textbook (2nd edition) by Cambridge University Press. For Level 4 we are using the Connect 4 textbook (2nd edition) by Cambridge University Press. Prerequisites: Schedule a free language evaluation prior to enrolling in order to determine your level. |

TYPICAL SCHEDULE
New classes are offered every first Monday of the month. Classes meet Monday through Thursday for 2 hours each day.

TUITION & FEES
The program is designed for foreign students that come visit family or friends during the summer. Although it is viewed as a 4 week session, students can join classes for the number of weeks that they will be spending in Los Angeles.
All ESL classes are for day students only: they stay with family or family friends during the program, and are responsible for their visa processing (B1/B2 visa), as well as for their transportation between home and our language center.
A $35 registration fee applies for all new students. The material is not included in the tuition and can be purchased at our center on the first day of class (textbook + workbook = $43.25 tax incl).
