English Language Classes (ESL)

English is the most widespread language in the world and is more widely spoken and written than any other language. Over 400 million people use the English vocabulary as a mother tongue, only surpassed in numbers, but not in distribution by speakers of the many varieties of Chinese. Over 700 million people, speak English, as a foreign language. Because a working knowledge is required in many fields and occupations, education ministries around the world mandate the teaching of English to at least the basic level. English classes are taught at all levels by native speaker teachers: complete beginner (L0), low beginner (L1), high beginner (L2), low intermediate(L3), high intermediate (L4), low advanced (L5), and high advanced (L6). Join one of our ESL programs, the one that best fits your schedule and your needs!
For all English language programs Basic level (L0) we use English Fundamentals and for Beginner levels (L1 & L2) we use Top Notch (1 and 2) by Pearson Education.
L1 Low-Beginner (lessons 1-10): greetings, introductions, nationality, identifying and describing things, the house, computers; the verbs to be, to have, definite and indefinite articles, personal pronouns, prepositions in, on, the negation, asking questions, expression possession, opposites, family, on the telephone, the post office, leisure, the weather; who?, this is...that is, numbers, the auxiliary verb do, days of the week, asking for directions, prepositions, present simple of verbs, etc.
L2 High-Beginner (lessons 11-20): telling time, at the grocery store, shopping, professions, making an appointment; expressing reason, expressing quantity, colors, clothes, numbers 21-100, food, months of the year, seasons, direct object pronouns, present tense- 3rd person singular, a visit to the doctor, at the airport, traveling; the human body, possessive adjectives and pronouns, expressing necessity, suggestions and ability, present tense continuous, comparison of adjectives, the verb to get, past tense simple, present perfect, etc.
For the English Intermediate levels (L3 & L4) we use Top Notch 3 by Pearson Education.
L3 Low-Intermediate (lessons 1-10)
Topics: departure and arrival, asking for directions, apartment hunting, getting things fixed, daily household chores, all about food, a job interview, the first day in the office, a business meeting, on the phone
Grammar: question words, forming questions, stress in questions, verbs ending in -ing, expressions with common verbs, commands, articles, contractions, personal pronouns, this, that, these, those, simple present vs. present continuous tense, expressions of quantity, tag questions, expressing the future, making suggestions and recommendations, may and might, polite questions and requests, if...would, the present perfect tense, uses of Must, possessives, verbs in the past tense, must, need to, have to, had better, should, present perfect continuous tense, using can and may, each other and one another, past perfect tense, etc.
L4 High-Intermediate (lessons 11-20)
Topics: dining out, at the post office, at the doctor's office, at the drugstore, in a department store, a party, weekend activities, holidays, money, jury duty
Grammar: expressing preference with would rather, verbs followed by the gerund, using a, an, per and each, verbs followed by the infinitive, uses of self, past tense, present perfect tense, present perfect continuous tense, uses of right, to have somebody do something/to have something done, the passive voice, uses of make and get, causatives, let and allow - permissives, uses of use, the past with used to and would, if and would in the past, uses of what, noun clauses with question words, verbs followed by gerunds or infinitives, too, also, so, either,neither, verbs followed by prepositions, noun clauses with if and whether, expressing desire, verbs followed by an object and an infinitive, uses of get, noun clauses with infinitives, adjectives followed by prepositions, etc.
For the English Advanced levels (L5, L6) we use the Summit 1 and Summit 2 by Joan M. Saslow and Allen Asche Pearson Education. Classes concentrate on writing essays and oral presentations. Please contact us for class schedule.
